Opening Statement: Start with one sentence about who you are and what you bring to the job, then describe the skills and attributes you have that suit you to the job.

Skills and Strengths: Include a list of up to 10 skills that link your experience to the position you are applying for. Your list of skills and strengths should correspond to items that the job advertisement.

Technical/Software Skills: List technology and software you know how to use. Examples include “Proficient in MS Office suite” or “Expert knowledge and application of SAP.”

Employment History: Start with your most recent job, then work backwards through your employment history. Provide the company, position title, dates you worked there, and significant contributions you made to the organisation.

Educational Qualifications: Include the degree or qualification earned, institution, and year completed.

Other: Include Community involvement and Awards/achievements - you might like to consider including this information to support your opening statement around who you are.

Don't Use Too Much Content: Resumes with lengthy paragraphs and complex sentences probably won’t be read. Use bullet points and brief descriptions. Try to keep the resume to 1-2 pages unless you have a significant career timeline to document.

Check Your Spelling and Grammar: Make sure spelling and grammar are 100% correct. Ask a third party to proofread your document. Resumes with mistakes can make you look sloppy and unprofessional.

Using First Person: As a rule, write in the first person when compiling your resume.
