Google, Apple & The Big Four dominate the list of Australia’s Top 100 Graduate Employers

Ryan Matthews

Australia's university students have voted for their most coveted graduate employers in GradAustralia's comprehensive and objective survey.

Google has confirmed its place as Australia’s leading graduate employer for the sixth year in a row in GradAustralia’s Top 100 Graduate Employers survey. GradAustralia’s comprehensive and objective graduate employer rankings are determined by university students nominating the organisation that appeals most to them as a first employer.

Students exhibit an overwhelming preference for global tech and advisory companies, with the top ten places dominated by Google, Apple, Microsoft and the Big Four in accounting and advisory: PwC, EY, KPMG and Deloitte. Rounding out the top ten are Commonwealth Bank, CSIRO and ANZ.

‘Graduates clearly feel the pull of large companies with a global presence,’ says Geoff Adams. ‘And why not? They offer graduates an opportunity to build their careers at home and abroad with almost no limits on how far they can go. For graduates, it’s definitely perceived that bigger companies really can be better.’

PwC has topped the list of accounting and advisory firms, with Commonwealth Bank, Accenture, CSIRO, Allens, L’Oreal and Qantas topping their sectors two years in a row.

New leaders in their sectors include Lendlease (construction & property services), ABC (media and communications) and Shell (mining, energy, oil and gas). Consistently in high demand, The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has topped the list of graduate employers in the public service and utility sector, with ASIO, ASIS, The Department of Education, Skills and Employment and the ADF also in the top five for the sector.

The definitive list of the Top 100 Graduate Employers can be found on the GradAustralia website, and students can pick up a print copy of the latest edition at career fairs and their university careers service centre throughout Australia in March. The Top 100 Guide includes 400 pages of comprehensive employer profiles, sector information, insider tips on how to get hired as well as real-life stories from graduates on the job.
